And for one delicate moment
it all made sense.

Balanced on a bean-bag in your living room,
colouring tiny petals with bright highlighter.
Onions and bacon tempted us toward the kitchen
and swooping piano notes rained down around us.
In that single heartbeat,
I understood.

Green grass conversations
on the long summer days
that refused to go to bed.
Lying on our backs
as the sky spun circles overhead.
Our wild ideas that lacked intention
but were beautifully conceived.
Being giddy,
dancing in the gutters,
laughter gliding over rooftops.
The baby blue tears
that we both cried
when we feared the very worst,
and the boy we’ve shared;
my past and your future,
your lover and my friend.

For one runaway instant,
it all made sense.
Every incidental second.

“Walk with me as we break at the seams,
Remembering these childhood dreams.”

Author's Comments

Written about a close friend, and one of those rare moments when you nearly understand everything and then it slips away again.

The last two lines are something she wrote to me in a birthday card. They may be from a song, and if they are I apologise for not knowing which one. It's not meant as plaguerism. (spelling?)

Very nice, I like the way it gives the impression of being thoughtful, as if the short lines are really fleeting memories...

"long summer days that refused to go to bed"...

Exactly. Brilliant.

They are fleeting memories. A lot of them are things that I have done so many times that the memories all run together.

=) Thank you very much.

I hate to break this to you, but being a coward is not a legitimate career.

That's just absolutely beautiful. So much so it almost made me cry. I've had a few of those moments, sitting on a beanbag chair as well, crazy enough. But you probably expected that, didn't you? *grins*

So sad the childhood has to slip away from us...

Blue: What are you doing?
Remi: I'm listening to the world.
Blue: Oh and what does it say?
Remi: ...AHHHHHHHHH!
:icondorankhamis:
No problem whatsoever :)

=) Of course you would have...we are living the same life. Thank you so much, it is kind of sad. Not too sad though.
